On 02-22-25, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of two work-related fatalities.

South of Winside, NE, a wind turbine maintenance crew experienced an equipment failure, which resulted in two men falling from a turbine. Eddy Noriega Sebinet (age 46) and Raidel Justiz Noriega (age 37) were pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Winside Volunteer Fire Department.

The accident remains under investigation.”

An employee on a non-producing offshore natural gas platform died after falling through a deck opening on Monday, the U.S. offshore drilling regulator said.

The employee of Alliance Oilfield Services was working on a Hilcorp Energy platform in 375 feet of water about 129 miles off the Louisiana coast in the Gulf of Mexico, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement said in a statement. Hilcorp and Alliance are both privately-held companies. Reuters

The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management says it is looking into an incident on Apache Corporation’s natural gas production platform WC 575A, about 150 miles south of Lake Charles that led to the death of an offshore worker.

The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, the bureau said. The worker fell into the water, apparently while transferring from a vessel to the platform.

Other crew members were able to get the worker back on the platform, but shortly thereafter he became unresponsive and was subsequently pronounced dead.
